Huddle Week 11 Resources
Resources adapted from KC Underground’s Missionary Pathway Tool.
In the Bible there is no such thing as “church planting.” As new groups of people surrendered their lives to the Lordship of Jesus, new families of faith emerged. We call this “the Church.” As we look at how the Gospel is rapidly multiplying all over the world, this form of church can be described as “microchurch” settings. Whether in homes, coffeeshops, under bridges, or in backyards, wherever the people of God gather and live out the rhythms of Worship, Community, and Mission, we have “church.” Additionally, in order to see new disciples and new MicroChurches emerge, we need to replicate new leaders. This week we will focus on discovering the paradigm of church we see in the Bible, how to transition from a DBS to a MicroChurch, and introduce the idea of multiplying leaders.
This week’s Scripture Reading:
Read Romans 10 - 15 and Psalm 85
Take notes in your Discipleship Huddle journal
Suggested Memory Verses: Romans 12:4 - 5, Psalm 85:10
To Do:
Around the world simple forms of church are exploding out of new disciple- making. Church planting movements generally do not produce large and expensive forms of church, but rather local, intimate, and missionally potent forms that gather in homes and everyday spaces. Check out the video below of Rob Wegner, a leader in KC Underground, unpacking simple expressions o f church called "MicroChurches."
Please watch the New MicroChurches Emerge Training Video, the Neighborhood DBS Training Video Video.
If you’re wondering “When does a Discovery Bible Study group mature into a Spiritual Family?”, it’s when members live ever-increasing obedient lives t o Jesus, and the group lives into the rhythms o f Worship, Community, and Mission. Download the "MicroChurch Gathering and Moving From DBS to MicroChurch tools for more information.
Finally, spend some times journaling about your experience in this Rhythm of Renewal Discipleship Huddle.
Personal Reflection journal prompts:
Take some time to reflect on the last 13 weeks. Go back through your journal and look at the ways God has moved in your life, the prayers He has answered, the people you have made an impact on, and the ways that you have said “yes” to Jesus. What stands out to you the most?
Ask the two people closest to you if they’ve noticed any changes in you the last few months, and if so, what specifically have they observed?
Have you noticed any positive changes in your life since incorporating daily spiritual practices? Do you feel a difference in how you approach work, communicate with others, engage with family and friends, use your free time, manage your finances, etc?
How have you seen your heart change for the people you live, work, learn, and play with, and how will your interactions with them be more intentional moving forward?
What’s Next journal prompts:
What’s next for this huddle group? Could you see this group becoming an ongoing MicroChurch? Is your next step leading a huddle?
Are there people in your BLESS 5 who are ready to be invited into a Discovery Bible Study? (Spend a few minutes praying over that list again and writing out who you think might be ready for an invitation to discover more about God.)
What are the 1-3 big next steps you feel the Spirit directing you towards in the coming days and weeks? Get as practical and specific as you can.
