BIBLE STORY: God Made a Covenant With David (2 Samuel 7)

  • David wanted to build a temple for God.

  • God said David’s son would build Him a temple, not David.

  • God said Jesus would be part of David’s family.

FAMILY DISCUSSION STARTERS:

  • God reminded David of what He had done for David. Remind each other of things God has done for your family.

  • God promised David that every king would be from his family. What are some things that God promises us in the Bible?

  • Spend time with the members of your extended family. Invite older family members to share stories from years ago.

  • Arrange for some special one-on-one time between one parent and one child.

  • Why do you think God stopped David from building a temple?

  • How do you think David felt, knowing about God’s promise to send the Messiah through David’s family?


    FAMILY ACTIVITY: Work with your kids to do some research about your family tree. Pray for family members who don’t know Jesus.

    JOURNAL: Write or draw about other people in your family who trust in Jesus. What have you learned from them? You may also list family members you would like to pray for.
