Preschool:

Memory Verse: Lamentations 3:22-23

Bible Story: Ezra Read The Law

  • Ezra taught the people God’s Word.

  • The people cried because they were sorry for disobeying God.

  • Ezra, his helpers, and Nehemiah told the people to not be sad.

  • The people had a feast because they were happy God gave them His word.

Family Discussion Starters:

  • What makes the Bible different from every other book?

  • Who are some people who help us understand God’s Word?

  • Name something you learned about God or Jesus from the Bible.

Family Activity:

  • Memorize a Bible verse through the course of the week. Practice your verse during family meals.

  • Purchase Bibles to be sent to a place where people do not have access to God’s Word.

Elementary:

  • The people asked Ezra to read them God’s law.

  • Ezra read God’s Word to teach the people how to obey God.

  • The people were sad because they understood how sinful they were.

  • Ezra told them to celebrate instead because God had helped them understand His words.

Family Discussion Starters:

  • When might we feel sad when reading God’s Word?

  • What do we know that is a reason to celebrate instead?

  • What do we know from the Bible that gives us a reason to celebrate?

  • When can you read the Bible together as a family? Make a plan to spend time this week reading God’s Word.


    Family Activity:

    Challenge your kids to memorize a Bible passage. Plan a time for everyone to recite their passage to the family. Then eat a celebratory dinner.

    Journal: List or draw three ways that knowing God’s Word can be helpful.
